District Residence – 18 Years: Moved to Arizona in 1990. Resided exclusively in the Deer Valley and Moon Valley neighborhoods in Phoenix.
Family: I grew up in the Chicago area. Dad was a pipefitter and Mom was a legal secretary. I was the eldest of 11 children. Married once, divorced. Today, I’m the Father of an 8 year-old third grade girl at Lookout Mountain Elementary School in Phoenix. Our daughter divides her time equally between Mom and Dad, both of whom work outside the house.
Military Service: U.S. Marine Corps (1974-1976). Honorably discharged as a Marine Corporal (E-4). Expert rifle shot in boot camp. Competed in the Wes-Pac rifle and pistol competition in Okinawa (1975). Served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
Education: J.D., University of Illinois College of Law. B.A. in Economics with high honors, Eastern Illinois University. Worked through college and earned the G.I. Bill.
Professional & Other Work Experience: Attorney-At-Law (private practice) since 1983. Member of the State Bar of California and the State Bar of Arizona. Ranked No. 2 on the Arizona Bar Exam (Spring 1990). I’ve worked since I was 11 years old. Before I became an attorney, I worked as a golf caddy, a restaurant busboy, a 7-Up truck driver, construction worker, office worker, and as a business analyst for a bank.
Community Service: Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, State Bar of Arizona (2000-2006); Member, Site Council, Lookout Mountain Elementary School (2007 to the present); Washington Elementary School District K-3 Override Task Force (2007); North Mountain Village Planning Committee (2007 to the present); President, Shadow Rock-Gold Key Neighborhood Assn. (2001-2003). I’ve been a registered Democrat since my college days.
